ETransfers.com has both La Joya Condos and Casa de la Brisa (villa) listed on their approved drop off and pick up locations. Just choose Roundtrip – Airport to Hotel, or Transfer – Airport to Hotel for a one way trip, choose Cancun Airport and then either La Joya Condos Akumal or Casa de la Brisa Akumal, depending on which location you’re staying at.

Avis Rental Car is our favorite to rent from. It’s quick, no hassle and easy. We do recommend having a rental car if you’re staying for longer than just a few days.

If you’d prefer to take a shuttle service to the condo or villa, you can always do so, and have a rental car dropped off to your location. It’s very convenient, and it’s what we do when going. Just keep in mind, you’ll have to take a shuttle to the condo or villa, and then take a shuttle back to the airport the day you leave.

Mexico uses the Mexican Peso. The exchange rate fluctuates, but typically sits around $1USD to $20 Pesos, so for every $5 USD it’s roughly $100 Pesos. They do accept USD, but it’s not preferred, and you’ll usually get charged extra for doing so. We recommend taking USD with you to Mexico, and then stopping at one of the many Currency Exchange locations, and getting Pesos. It’ll make things a lot easier for you, especially when going out to eat/drink and paying your bill and tipping.

Simple answer; no, we don’t recommend it.

The condos and the villa all have complementary 5 gallon bottled water in a dispenser. The condos have water cooler looking machines, so only drink from that, and use that water to make your ice. The villa has the bottled water attached to the fridge, so the water dispenser on the fridge is safe to drink as well as the built-in ice maker. If you need more ice, every convenience store in Akumal sells bags of ice.

The Mexican authorities have done an amazing job protecting the Riviera Maya (the coast from Cancun down to Tulum). You’ll see the many police trucks with officers in the truck bed keeping a lookout. While they look intimidating, they are there for your own safety, just don’t bother them and let them do their job. We have never had an issue or not felt safe along the entire highway.

The Sargassum has become somewhat of an issue over the years along the East Coast of Mexico, so much so that the Mexican Government has declared it a state of emergency to find a permanent solution. The Sargassum season is April through September when it’s at it’s worst. Our properties have full time workers every day to combat the sargassum that washes up everyday. Unfortunately, we can’t control the rate at which it comes ashore, all we can do is be proactive in hauling it away as it comes ashore.

As with any place you visit, it’s typically customary to tip the staff, based on how great of a job they performed for you during your stay.

The wifi at the condos and villa are extremely good. Fast speeds, followed by entire property coverage, means you’ll be connected anywhere on the property. To give an example, Zoom Video Calls have no issues.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

Scenario 1: You’ve paid the full 100% amount of your stay:

If you cancel 30 days before your check-in, it’s a full 100% refund.
If you cancel 15 days before your check-in, you will receive a 50% refund.
If you cancel 14 days or closer to your check-in, you will lose your payment.

Scenario 2: You’ve paid the 50% deposit only

Full Payment is due by at least 14 days before your check-in date.
If you cancel 30 days before your check-in, it’s a full 100% refund of your deposit
If you cancel 15 days before your check-in, you will not receive a refund.
At 14 days prior to check-in, if you have not yet paid the 50% remainder, the deposit will not be refunded and the booking cancelled.
